Remembrance 2020

Remembrance Day forms an important part of the annual calendar of events for the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland.

As an Institution, we recognise the importance of taking time to pause and reflect on the service and sacrifice made by so many to protect the freedoms we enjoy and often take for granted
Since our inception in 1795, the Orange Institution has a proud and distinguished record of service and sacrifice.

In the Great War alone, 200,000 Orangemen served the Crown.  To date, seven of our members have been recipients of the Victoria Cross. During Operation Banner, thousands of our members served in Northern Ireland and during those years, 340 of our members were murdered by terrorists.

To this day, we have members currently serving in a wide range of roles and at many levels throughout the services.

This web page seeks to support socially distanced Acts of Remembrance at local memorials and to encourage individuals and families to mark the occasion in their homes as we remember our heroes, both then and now.
