Radio Boyne

The Orange Institution’s pop up radio station will go live on the 10th July. Full listings of programmes will be available from the 22nd June to compliment your celebrations. Traditional tunes, popular songs and hymns alongside heritage, history and information programmes will provide easy listening and set the scene for the big day.

Friday 10 July

11.00 - 11.05: 'Chaplain's Thought'

Each day a Grand Lodge Chaplain will share a thought for the day.

11.05 - 12.00: '12th at Home' Goes Live

Deputy Grand Master Harold Henning will launch 'Radio Boyne', with presenter David Scott playing some toe-tapping tunes to commence the celebrations.

12.00 - 13.00: 'Birth of Orangeism'

The Orange Story – exploring the origins and development of the Orange Institution. 

13.00 - 13.05: 5-Minute Orange History Segment

A five-minute history lesson with Dr Jonathan Mattison, Museum of Orange Heritage

13.05 - 14.30: 'The Orange Family:
A Worldwide Fraternity'

Learn how Orangeism was exported around the world. Hear from today's leaders and what it means to be a member outside the island of Ireland.

Conducted by the Grand Chaplains in the birthplace of Orangeism -Sloan’s House, Loughgall. 

15.30 - 16.00: 'Gospel Goal'

Learn about this exciting Christian outreach at football grounds around the country.

16.00 - 17.00: 'Twelfth' Request 'Sunday' Show

Another opportunity to send in your special Sunday requests.

17.00 - 19.00: 'Stories behind the Hymns'

Rev. Dr. Ron Johnstone shares the stories that inspired some of our greatest hymns.

19.00 - 20.00: 'Tunes of Glory'

Iain Carlisle introduces a range of sacred marches and hymns performed by bands from across the land.

20.00 - 21.00: 'Old Tyme Gospel'

Bring the day to a close with the Thompson Brothers playing the choruses and hymns of yesteryear in their own unique style 

Monday 13 July

09.30 - 09.35: 'Chaplain's Thought'

Each day a Grand Lodge Chaplain will share a thought for the day.

09.35 - 11.00: 'On the Rolls'

David Scott starts the day’s celebrations rolling, with contributions from  around the Province. 

11.00 - 11.10: 'Act of Remembrance'

Led by a Grand Chaplain, we remember the service and sacrifice of those who gave so much for our freedom. 

11.10 - 12.30: 'Military Music & Marches'

A range of patriotic music and stirring tunes from across the United Kingdom. 

12.30 - 15.00: 'To the Field and Back'

Enjoy the sounds of the Twelfth which traditionally provide the soundtrack for marchers and spectators alike.

15.00 - 15.30: '330th Anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne - Platform Proceedings'

Led by the Grand Master, the traditional resolutions will be read and a short service conducted by a Grand Chaplain.

15.30 - 18.00: 'At the Field'

Relax and enjoy a family picnic at home, as you listen to David Scott and hear more of your requests.

18.00 - 19.00: 'Reflections on the 'Twelfth''

Hear some thoughts on what the Twelfth means to some well-known personalities.

19.00 - 21.00: 'Safe Home Sisters & Brethren'

As this very different Twelfth draws to a close, we look forward to 2021. Tune in to hear about our CentenNIal celebration plans for the foundation of Northern Ireland.
