Orange Institution pays tribute to HRH Prince Philip

Grand Master Edward Stevenson has paid tribute to HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh on behalf of members of the Orange Institution across Ireland.

The Grand Master said: “Members of the Orange Institution were deeply saddened to learn of the recent death of HRH Prince Philip. His legacy will be one of service and loyalty having tirelessly served our nation as consort for 73 years.

“His dedication and support to our Sovereign Queen Elizabeth was unwavering, and despite ill health and ageing years, he fulfilled his duty as her most trusted aide until the end.

“As one of the last of that great generation who answered the call when our nation found itself at war, Prince Philip was a decorated veteran whose distinguished service in the Royal Navy commands our gratitude and respect.

“His later involvement with countless charities and the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme further illustrates an amazing commitment to community service and development.

“As an Institution, our thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen and the entire Royal Family at this time. We trust and pray that they will know God’s comfort and grace as they mourn the loss of a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.”
